Puzzle Notes

Dear Friends:

Play ball! Here's a few nuggets about America's Pastime in honor of MLB's opening weekend.

- Cecil Fielder and his son Prince Fielder each finished their career with 319 home runs.

- Nolan Ryan, who is the all-time leader in strikeouts, no-hitters, one-hitters, and two-hitters, never won a Cy Young Award.

- Only one person has ever hit a home run in the World Series on their birthday: Willie Aikens, who did it on October 14, 1980, in Game 1. And guess what? He hit two homers that day.

- Every single person who's appeared in a Major League game could sit inside Yankee Stadium with plenty of good seats available, as there have been fewer than 25,000 MLB players in history. We would have guessed this number was higher!

Is baseball the most trivia-ish sport of all sports? We think so.
