Puzzle Notes

Dear Friends:

The AVCX brings you two bonuses today -- and the attached, the second of the morning, is a bundle of five mini puzzles made for kids roughly 7 years old through young teens. The puzzles are constructed by Jake Berglin and Ben Tausig.

If you're with family today, print them for your young ones (they're available in .puz format, too, just in case). Let the new solvers know that the puzzles contain certain clues marked "ask an adult-assistant," for which they should feel free to seek the wisdom of an older person, usually about something, you know, venerable. There are also clues that grant permission to look something up using a computer, globe, reference book, etc. Those clues/answers are great chances to learn new facts. Oh, and puzzle #5 is slightly larger and harder than the others, so if you know someone who tackles it, please send them our personal congratulations and dazzlement! Really! We hope these help get the kids in your life hooked on crosswords, and that they're a fun activity for a family day.

Be well and thanks always for your support,

Ben and the AVCX crew
