Puzzle Notes

Dear Friends:

Guest themeless this week (our last themeless for quite a while, btw) from your friend and mine, Victor Fleming! It's 4/5 difficulty.

For the past 15 years, Vic's crosswords have appeared around the puzzle world--New York Times, L.A. Times, Wall Street Journal, Games magazine, Simon & Schuster puzzle books, and more. For 10 years, he wrote the "I Swear Crossword," which was syndicated to several small papers. For two years, he co-edited Random House Casual Crosswords with Bonnie L. Gentry and Mel Rosen. In 2006, a song he wrote--"If You Don't Come Across (I'm Gonna Be Down)"--was featured in the award-winning documentary "Wordplay" (and Vic and Ben even played the song together at the tournament where the doc was filmed!) By day, Vic presides over a high-volume district court in Little Rock, Arkansas, and by night he regularly teaches a seminar called "Law and Literature" at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock's Bowen School of Law. He's a backer of the Inkubator. And ... he has been writing a monthly crossword for the Rotarian magazine since 2006. Today he adds AVCX guest constructor to his lengthy résumé. Welcome, Vic!

Regular puzzle AND bonus variety coming next week ...

Be well,

Ben and the AVCX crew
