Puzzle Notes

Hello all!

We've got a clever AVCX debut for you today from seasoned cryptic constructor William Kenny. It's a good challenge with plenty of rewards for the persistent solver. We hope you enjoy it.

Here's William:

William Kenny began compiling cryptics following retirement from a career as an analyst programmer. An Irish native, he now lives in Spain. He has had cryptic puzzles featured in American (The Browser) and British (The Independent, The Church Times) publications.

In other cryptic news, the folks behind last year's World Cryptic Crossword Championships are hosting free online US and Canada Cryptic Crossword Championships this July. I (Steve) was invited to make one of the puzzles and got to test the others, which I can assure you are a very good time. Anybody interested in trying their hand can register here.
