Puzzle Notes

Francis Heaney graces us with "Smile, You're on Camera!" at 4/5 difficulty this week.

And we have a big announcement. Nearly four years after leaving the pages of the Onion A.V. Club, later this month the AVCX will move under the auspices of Slate.com. Specifically, the weekly puzzle will be offered as part of the site's premium "Slate Plus" platform. We couldn't be prouder and more enthusiastic about this partnership! We'll kick it off in the coming weeks with a free puzzle by AVCX superfriend Angela Halsted. It's a big moment in our history, and we're grateful to all of our subscribers for your support.

Current AVCX subscribers will be unaffected by the change. Your subscription will continue to offer access to the same puzzles and features that it always has. Moreover, the Slate Plus puzzle will only include a browser version--no Across Lite file, no .jpz, and no PDF. If you solve on a mobile platform, otherwise digitally, or on paper, you'll want to keep (and of course renew!) your existing subscription. And only your current subscription gets you bonus puzzles and other goodies. We figured you would want your money's worth.
