Puzzle Notes

Dear friends,

This week's puzzle is by Jeff Chen and Jonathan Raksin -- Jeff is a consummate collaborator and mentor, and we are excited to work with him again, as well as with Jonathan for the first time. The puzzle is called "Minor Scales" at 3/5 difficulty, and it is an exciting one. For reasons, this puzzle is only available in PDF format. I realize we've been doing that often lately; we create digital versions whenever we can!

We also want to plug an exciting upcoming tournament: Registration is now open for the Boswords 2026 Winter Wondersolve, an online crossword tournament which will be held on Sunday, February 1 from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. Eastern. Solvers can compete individually or in pairs and will complete four puzzles (three themed and one themeless) edited by Brad Wilber.
