Dear Friends:We've got an excellent 72-worder today from fellow AVCXer Stella Zawistowski, titled "RIP, Queen". Stella has this to say about a central entry in the puzzle:
"Some celebrity deaths hit harder than others. I cried over this one. In the case of the drag queen memorialized in this puzzle, I'm gutted (to use a Britishism, as seems appropriate) because I mourn that the world will never see new work from her again. Her comedy was so brilliant, so incisive, and delivered in some pretty glam looks to boot.
If you haven't seen this queen, look her up. Her Snatch Game from her winning season on RuPaul's Drag Race UK is a great place to start."
Stella made the switch last year from "advertising professional who has a side hustle making crosswords" to "crossword constructor and trivia writer who does a little advertising to pay the mortgage." She wonders why she didn't quit her job years ago (oh yeah, there was that pandemic thing that happened). She also continues to evangelize for cryptic crosswords in the hopes that Americans will catch on to what Brits already know: Cryptics are awesome!
