Dear solvers,

As we start to shake off the chill of winter, here's a puzzle to improve your mood from one of our favorites, Trip Payne. A Los Angeles-based puzzlemaker who co-edits the Zynga app Crosswords With Friends, Trip has also been making great American cryptics since we don't know when. We think this is one of his best!

You can solve this puzzle online, but we crypticians are never not going to recommend printing out and solving on paper. Trip has included some devious tricks in this puzzle that reward the solver who may want to take more than one sitting.
