Puzzle Notes
We're thrilled to bring you "You Dig Me?" This 10x10 midi is from guest constructor Adesina O. Koiki, and we hope you'll find it engaging.
Adesina (he/him) is a longtime sports journalist and an SAT tutor who is the founder of
A Lot of Sports Talk, a national sports reporting website. Adesina previously spent seven years as a reporter at ESPN the Magazine, and now looks forward to his annual assignment writing stories from many different angles for the US Open (tennis) official website. Since 2020, Adesina's crosswords have appeared weekly on Vox, and his work has also been published in the New York Times, USA Today, AVCX, and Crosswords With Friends. Along with authoring a book of crosswords whose cover is in the shape of a toilet roll, his puzzles were also featured in a 2022 anti-racist activity book co-written by W. Kamau Bell. Adesina's interests also include cooking any recipes involving chicken.
Ade says: "Beyond chuffed to contribute to the wonderful world of Lil AVC X. As a sports reporter who attends events on a regular basis, it's always fascinating to hear the many choreographed chants from spectators (well, at least the non-vulgar chants) that create a concert-like pageantry. My curiosity of the origins of some of those incantations is the inspiration for this grid, and, trust me, you don't have to be a sports enthusiast to appreciate what's going on with this puzzle. Enjoy!"
