Puzzle Notes

Hi friends:

Today's puzzle comes from Brendan Emmett Quigley. The Bowie reference within (no spoiler) is pure coincidence, but stands as a nice tribute. Brendan and I agree that Bowie's best album is "Station to Station." But things get messy after that. I'd put "Low" second, then Ziggy Stardust, but Brendan says "Hunky Dory" then "Scary Monsters." Let us know who's right ... if indeed either of us are. I'm @avcxword; he's @fleetwoodwack. Anyway, BEQ's puzzle is called "Turn the Music Back On," and it's a tricky 4/5.

If you are one of our original Kickstarter subscribers and are up for renewal after 2015, you should have received an email link to a renewal discount offer (if you're renewed for a longer term, you don't need to do anything). If such an email did not arrive, you can email our tech person, Sergio Mertsching, at support@avxword.com. All solvers -- KS backers or otherwise -- can also email support@avxword.com with questions about subscription status.

Finally, the big news: we are proud to announce that the AVCX has hired two new constructors! You may know Erin Rhode and/or Kameron Austin Collins from their respective work in the New York Times; Erin also directed the 2014 MIT Mystery Hunt, and KAC (nice to have another person identified by three initials in the mix) has an indie themeless puzzle feature called HIGH:low. Both are superb and promise groundbreaking work. Nothing less than changing the game. You'll see their stuff starting the first quarter of this 2016.

Peace,

Ben and the AVCX crew [avxwords.com, @AVCXWord]
