We are loving having cryptic guru Steve Mossberg on the editorial team, and this week we're featuring him as a constructor! Fall foliage was his inspiration for 'Leaf Peeping,' the variety puzzle we're bringing you this week.

If the words 'variety cryptic' strike fear into your heart, let this puzzle be the one that helps you conquer that fear! We think it's on the gentle side and very accessible for newer solvers.

Here's a little about Steve in his own words:

Boston area music teacher Steve Mossberg edits cryptics at AVCX and Lemonade Disco, and sets them at Square Chase, the Independent (as Mog), and elsewhere. Having recently completed his hot dad summer, he is excited to announce the beginning of hot dad fall, filled with leaf peeping, apple picking, and hikes with his wife and daughter.
