Puzzle Notes

Dear friends,

This week's puzzle is by AVCX standby and forever-friend Brendan Emmett Quigley. It's called "Special Ops," and it's 3.5/5 difficulty.

Meanwhile, we're elated (to use a crossword word) to announce a new AVCX collaboration with the Defector, a sports/media thing. The new AVCX-Defector puzzle will be edited by Hoang-Kim Vu and Maitreyi Anantharaman, and the first puzzle is by Paolo Pasco. Check out the debut offering here. Frequency is TBA, but it will be regular. Defector is an extremely cool outlet, both because their writing is great and because they are worker-owned and pay their writers fairly. Hard to think of a media outlet whose values we respect more, and delighted to be working with them.
