Ok, here's the big announcement we've been promising: The AVCX is proud to announce the addition to our regular rotation of Erik Agard, one of the brightest and most thrilling minds in contemporary crosswords. His work is as ambitious and smart as anyone in the game that he is changing.

Erik's debut puzzle for the AVCX is a meta called "Have a Blast!" at 5/5 difficulty. Solve it, and email the meta solution to blast@avxwords.com before the end of Sunday, June 14. Two correct entries will be chosen at random, and their entrants awarded a 6-month subscription extension. For the meta solution, we are asking for the name of a classic sitcom.

Oh, and we thought you would enjoy this striking, sad, and lovely mini-documentary made by the Guardian about the cryptic crossword setter John Graham (aka Araucaria), who died in 2013. It's free online.
