This week, we're excited to bring you a wonderfully fun and fresh cryptic from Jess Shulman! It's been a joy to work with Jess on this puzzle - she's incredibly imaginative and brought her fantastic creativity and keen eye for surface sense to every clue in this puzzle. Can't wait for you to dive in! In the meantime, a quick bio from our constructor:



Jess Shulman (she/her) is a freelance editor and writer based in Toronto, who's been constructing crosswords since 2020. She's thrilled to be publishing a cryptic with AVCX and incredibly grateful to Nate for his generous mentorship and encouragement through the whole process. She lives with her husband and two teenage kids, and she tries to make time for non-puzzle activities once in a while like reading, fitness, paddle boarding, and singing/playing guitar.
