Puzzle Notes

Hi friends:

Tyler Hinman brings us a tough puzzle this week, a 4/5 that might even be a little trickier than that called "Back on Top." This is, by the way, another 72-word grid.

Congratulations to Oren Michaels, Brian Schoner, David Hammer, and David Bael, the four winners of last week's BEQ marching bands contest! We had 113 submissions for this one, the majority of them correct. See the attached PDFs for the ten intended answers. Meanwhile, many of you found legitimate answers that we had not intentionally put in there, while others still found (as Francis Heaney put it) "obviously bullshit but technically correct answers." I am listing a few of these below a spoiler space, but I want to give special mention to Oren Michael's inclusion of Tib, a musical/burlesque that ran for two days in 1863. It's full title is Tib or, The Cat in Crinoline. Really, I'm just disappointed that I didn't get to see it when it was here in New York -- during the Civil War.

Oh, and in other good news, Brendan funded his Kickstarter, so the biweekly marching bands fun will begin at his site in May.

Thank you kindly,

Ben and the AVCX crew [avxwords.com, @AVCXWord]
