Puzzle Notes

Dear Friends:

This week's puzzle is an AVCX debut by Amanda Fallon! We'd rate it at about a 2.5/5, but as the comments on the previous puzzles have made very clear, mileage *really* varies on these puzzles. I'm almost inclined to borrow the cryptic's rating system of "yes." In any case, congratulations to last week's All Questions Correct Answer Getter (trademark pending): Zak Holden!
