Puzzle Notes

Dear friends,

"Opposite Day" is the AVCX Classic debut from Kate Chin Park! Proud moment for us. It's 4/5 difficulty.

Kate Chin Park is a custom furniture maker based in Oakland who is absolutely thrilled to be making her AVCX debut. Kate's crosswords have been published in the USA Today, and she recently constructed one of the Boswords Winter Wondersolve puzzles. Expect more from her soon, both from AVCX+ and the Inkubator, as well as on her crossword blog.

Last week's puzzle by Ben Tausig bounced to an unusually high number of email addresses, for whatever reason. We apologize if you didn't receive it! You can resend that puzzle or any other to yourself right here.

The meta contest received 209 correct entries before the deadline. The winners, randomly drawn from that pile, are Martha Kimes and Rebecca Slivka, who each win a prize. Congratulations to those two, as well as everyone who solved!

Oh and finally, speaking of Boswords as we were earlier, registration for the Boswords 2022 Spring Themeless League is now open! This 10-week event starts with a Preseason puzzle on Monday, February 28 and features weekly themeless puzzles -- clued at three levels of difficulty -- from an all-star roster of constructors and edited by Brad Wilber. To register, to solve a practice puzzle, to view the constructor line-up, and to learn more, go to www.boswords.org. The AVCX hearts Boswords very much.

Yrs,
Ben and the expanded AVCX crew
