We're thrilled to be in the middle of the first week of the AVCXpansion. Henceforth, the weekly puzzle that you've enjoyed up until now will be called "AVCX Classic" (otherwise unchanged). The new era kicks off with a puzzle by Ben Tausig, and co-edited by Francis Heaney. It's called "Expanding the AV," it's 4/5 difficulty, and it's got a meta. Here are your instructions:
The expansion is here! We're all celebrating, and in the AVCX offices, there's something in the air -- I guess the new folks are blazing something. Figure out just what that is by solving the puzzle, then send the answer to firstname.lastname@example.org by the end of Sunday, February 20 for a chance to win a prize.
Meanwhile we wanted to welcome all of our new subscribers
who arrive here on the shores of the recent Kickstarter campaign. If you would like to access your account on the website, you can do that here
. If you have questions about your subscription that aren't answered on the site, hit us up at email@example.com
and we'll be glad to help you out.
Now that the expansion has started, here's the schedule
: you'll be getting Midi puzzles on Monday and Tuesday; the Classic puzzle (i.e. this one) on Wednesday; the Cryptic on Thursday; AVCX+ (usually a themeless) on Friday, and Trivia on Saturday. Often these will hit your inbox the night before, as usual. We'll take a week off during the fourth week of each month, plus a few weeks for holidays. AV Classic will run every week of the year, as it always does.
Finally, we now have a long and fun list of new features to roll out
. The first of these is the new website, which we hope to launch Wednesday night. Giving ourselves a little space for error, let's just call it "later this week." We'll let you know when it's ready. Plenty more to come after the site launches, and we appreciate every single bit of your feedback. Thanks for sticking with us.
