Puzzle Notes
Dear Friends:
Francis Heaney has a contest puzzle this week. "A Foggy Day" is 5/5 difficulty. The puzzle is fully solvable in the .puz/.jpz version, but if it's an option, you might prefer to rock the PDF.
Here's the instructions: "You're outside looking for something, but the fog is making it difficult. 24 squares in this grid are obscured by fog; clues for the answers in the rows and columns with fog in them have been grouped together (in four groups) in no particular order. It's up to you to figure out where the black squares should be placed in the foggy areas; letters in the fog may be unchecked. (Insert an @ symbol to represent a black square in the digital edition). When you're done, read the letters in the fog, left to right from top to bottom, to reveal where you are. Then read the foggy areas in a different way (you may need an external reference) to reveal what you've been hunting for. Send both parts of the solution to fog@avxwords.com no later than midnight on Sunday, August 9 for a chance to win a prize."
Be well,
Ben and the AVCX crew
