Puzzle Notes
Dear Friends:
Your editor has this week's puzzle, which is called "Sacred Spaces," and is 4/5 in difficulty.
Thanks for the great many responses to last week's inquiry about increasing accessibility for financially challenged solvers. Notably, the idea floated by the most people was having subscribers who can afford to do so pay a little extra in order to subsidize those who can't. (Several people also mentioned a sliding scale for pricing, and a few other models). No reason not to try this and see how it works. So, for the next week (June 5 through June 13), any contributions made to the AVCX tip jar will be earmarked for low-income solvers at a rate of one subscription per $10. That way, it's still a discounted subscription, regardless of who's paying for it, which seems fair. We'll tally the total contributions and report them in next week's email. We'll then advertise, through various channels, that we have subscriptions available for those interested but unable to afford them. Anyone who asks on this basis will get a one-year subscription, until the pool of money is exhausted. We'll see how it works! Thank you.
Erin Rhode is up next week, followed by Aimee Lucido.
Be well,
Ben and the AVCX crew
