Puzzle Notes
Dear friends,We're very proud to have the AV Classic debut of Sala Wanetick and Greg Snitkin this week, who have a fun one called "We Saw You From Across the Bar" at 3.5/5 difficulty.
Greg is a dad with 3 small kids and a hedge fund accountant from South Orange, NJ. His coworkers have started calling him "Puzzle Daddy" and he doesn't hate it. Greg Says: "I reached out to Sala after seeing her amazing TikTok review of my NYT debut puzzle. She pitched this wonderful idea and we got to work! We're both thrilled to be here and we hope you find this puzzle to be a banger."
Sala writes: "I am a cheese monger living just outside of Detroit. If you know another cheese-mongering-crossword-constructor, I would love to meet them! I am also a new-aunt and have dedicated my life to being my niece's favorite. I am thrilled to be making my debut in AVCX - these are some of my favorite puzzles to solve! Greg is my first 'crossword friend', and it has been so great getting to collaborate with him. Thanks to AVCX crew + solvers for providing an outlet where we can be weird and write fun puzzles."
And a plug for a genuinely outstanding puzzle tournament (online): Registration is now open for the Boswords 2025 Winter Wondersolve, an online crossword tournament which will be held on Sunday, February 2 from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. Eastern. Solvers can compete individually or in pairs and will complete four puzzles (three themed and one themeless) edited by Brad Wilber. To register, to see the constructors, and to watch a short video describing the event, go to www.boswords.org.
Yrs,
Ben and the expanded AVCX crew
